Hello Models!!!
Welcome to your Fifth judging & elimination session. This week you need to pick an accessory and use it in your photo. Let's see the outcome of this week shoot.
Daniel ~ Sunglasses
Eugen: The way your housecoat is flowing, makes your body look oddly shaped. Huge on top and super skinny on bottom. I love your chest. I kind of giggled when I saw this, you look like a gigolo lol I like how you're showcasing the sunglasses, and even though I know this isn't a candid or movie still, it kind of falls into that category with the cigarette, expression and walking. Not your best sorry.
Andrew: I actually quite like this Daniel! Very high fashion and modelesque. Two things would have made it better howere: Lose the robe and stache... the robe, like Eugen says, makes your upper body look disproportionate while the stache is really creppin me out. dirt stache. lol Other than that, I think you look great, the sunglasses are represented well, and the backdrop is great. Good job!
Luke: I'm agreeing with a lot of what Eugen and Andrew are saying. The robe causes you to look a little off and I'm really not a fan of that porn stache. The glasses do pop nicely in this shot and it's a fitting environment. Overall a good picture, with just a couple minor problems.
Rhys: Hm... i'm not a fan of this photo for some reason. i think its your face. Your bod is nice and sexy but your face just turns me off which means i'm not even looking at the glasses.
Sean: Very strong and I see a model here. I love the concept so much especially how the sunglasses was the main feature here. Nice setting as well.
Eddie ~ Trenchcoat
Eugen: I like this. I do notice though that almost all your shots are plain studio shots except last round. That might be why you haven't wow'd me yet. Another problem we have here is that two coats were already chosen and only two models were allowed to choose the same accessory.
Andrew: You will get serious deduction of marks for using a coat since it was stated clearly in the rules for this round that no more than 2 ppl may use the same accessory. Jacket, Coat, and Trenchcoat are all coats.
As for the photo, the accessory is represented well, and you look very good in the shot. Im not sure on the biting your nail or the fact that its another studio shot. Like another model, it looks like its for a cheap catalogue. Not your best Eddie. Good Luck
Eddie: I feel like I can't win with you guys. Whatever I'm over it
Luke: I actually like this shot. Seemingly more-so than Eugen and Andrew. I feel it's a different look from you and despite being a studio shot, I think it's interesting. I am disappointed that you chose an accessory that was off-limits (the rules of the shoot did say no more than two models per accessory and after both were taken, Andrew even posted that jacket/coat was off-the-table). I will probably have to knock you down a couple spaces in the rankings for that. Also, I understand your frustration; I've been there. All you have to do is check out Gwen Stefani from the female Cycle 9. Sometimes, your tastes just don't match up well with the judges. Sometimes the model you choose just doesn't have photos that will resonate with the judges. Sometimes you won't understand why the judges don't like your shots as much as you do (I spent a lot of that game in IMs with people who were saying they couldn't understand why I was always so low in the rankings). However, with your statement above, it almost makes it seem like you're giving up. Don't give up. If the judges seem to dog you every round, it just makes it that much more satisfying when you prove the judges wrong and get FCO, shocking everyone. I even made it to the Finals in that game, much to the surprise of the very judges who kept ranking me low. From my experience, a couple things you need to look out for, studio shots can sometimes get you a FCO, but judges tend to gravitate more towards pictures with a setting. Even if the judge doesn't realize this and isn't counting off for it being a studio shot, I've just noticed that shots with settings tend to get ranked higher on a regular basis. Also, descriptions tend to help out, too. Explain what you were going for and why you chose the picture. It could help the judges see what you were going for and possibly a different view on your photo. In the end, I do like your photo this round. A different, intense expression from you and your accessory was shown off well.
Rhys: I think this is a better shot of all the ones you've done so far. But i feel like your face is always the same... maybe it's just me but thats how i feel. Overall the trenchcoat is very poppin and i like it on you.
Sean: To me you always look good. I think you looked like a model. I don't think you should give up. Your only problem is the lack of setting in your photo. Sometimes, the background contribute a lot to someone opinion about the photo. The coat is great but I guess I need to state the rules clear when I said only two same accessories were allowed.
Ewan ~ Scarf
Andrew: Love the accessory... really stands out and draws my attention. The white works well with the white undershirt. Your face also draws me in... very gorgeous. The one thing I don't like about this photo is the background. It feels like you arent actually there in the mountains... I don't feel the connection in the photo. I do like your body position though, very relaxed and calming. Good luck!
Eugen: This is probably my favourite photo of you!! I love this. Your eyes match your surroundings. I love the bike and the mountains in the background. Your scarf is obvious, I didn't even have to read what your accessory was. Your pose is relaxed yet modeling. I really like this a LOT!
Luke: Scarf? Check. Sexy man? Check. Hey, let's go hiking together! I love the setting and like Eugen said, it really does match your lovely eyes. I don't think I have anything negative to say about this shot. I think I'll just stare at it a bit longer, instead
Rhys: I really like this... i love your eyes especially... they pull me in and i love how they match the background. The scarf adds flavor to this photo and i just love it. Great job!
Sean: Last week, you totally nailed it but this week..... is even better. The scarf is perfect. Compliment your style so well. The setting is really strong. I take back my words last week, cause this is your best photo in this competition so far.
Jamie ~ Sweater
Andrew: I really like the setting here Jamie! Very classical and warm. The colours work well to what you are wearing. Unfortunately, the sweater accessory doesn't stand out in your photo. I never would have guessed what your accessory was if I didn't see what you put in the sign up thread. This could damage your chances this week... but, accessory aside... this is a great photo! You are a little far away, but I like the body language and lighting. Good luck!
Eugen: I had to run to the photo shoot thread to see what you chose. It's not obvious, especially until we read that sweaters were allowed. Sean said not to wear them like every day clothing but you had already submitted when he posted that. Your face is nice and your setting is beautiful, and the colours nice and calm. But there's much you could change as well. For instance cropping. Not bad though.
Luke: I like that with every shoot, you're giving us shots that have a different feel to them. If nothing else, you're showing us versatility. I wish either the shot was tighter on you or you had a shot that was slightly larger than this. Still, we can see you fine enough, so it's not that big of a deal. It's not my favorite accessory, but I do love the sweater. I actually want that sweater right now. I'll help you take it off.
Rhys: Wait... where are you? There is so much going around in this photo that it takes time to find you. Also the colors seem to blend in and make it hard to distinct any differences in the photo but i do like your look and the sweater is cute. I like this one...
Sean: Yeah. I didn't notice the sweater too. I think that's your main problem here. The visibility of the sweater might affect your position this week. Too bad cause the setting is great.
Jay ~ Jacket
Eugen: Definitely straight forward and it looks good. You look good. But I do want to see some variety with your face. You gave us that last time, but the expression is not one of my favourites this time. Overall though you are showcasing the jacket very very well.
Andrew: WeRhys: I was a tad worried but overall i love this photo. You look veyr professional and very model like. The necktie was a safe choice but sometimes safe choices can be good.
ll the accessory is clear here... and it works very well! Great job showcasing the jacket. I do have to agree with Eugen about your facial expression... we need some variety. I'm also not too fond on the angle of this shot... i'd prefer looking straight at you or down at you. Look up is not always the most flattering angle. Its still a great shot though... good luck!
Luke: Well, the accessory is definitely on display well here. I was about to echo the other judges' comment about wanting more variety from your face, but then I remembered you gave us a change last round. I would imagine that the one round break from this expression wasn't enough, so that could be it. There's not really much more to say. It's a pretty straight-forward shot.
Rhys: You remind me of the guy from Harold and Kumar... but overall i love your facial expression and the jacket adds to the pop of this photo. another great photo Jay!
Sean: I love this. I agree with Eugen on your face expression. Very clear and strong. There's nothing exciting about the jacket but I love the overall package of this photo.
Juan ~ Necktie
Eugen: I want to die at how gorgeous you are here. I don't know what else to say. I mean, I don't think it's the best picture ever, but it's your best face and hair picture and you are just omg beyond gorgeous!! What movie/show you from? Love the styling, would love more from your expression but man alive I almost don't care. Almost, i have to be fair when i rank.
Andrew: Yes! Face and Hair are perfect this time around! Your accessory is showcased well but it doesn't stand out too much. Great pose though... i'd like a little more emotion but this isnt bad. Good job this week Juan!
Luke: I think you're progressively putting on more clothes as we go. I absolutely love how you're styled here and you've shown off the accessory well. I'm trying to think of something to critique and it took me a while to come up with anything. Your pose has been pretty much "look straight forward, lean a bit to (your) left (our right)." I would like that to change for variety's sake, but aside from that, I can't find any fault with this picture. Definitely your best shot of the competition by far and I really hope you get rewarded for that this round by moving up in the rankings.
Rhys: I was a tad worried but overall i love this photo. You look veyr professional and very model like. The necktie was a safe choice but sometimes safe choices can be good.
Sean: It's a little bit formal but it's okay cause this is the proper direction when you chose to highlight a necktie. I don't like the necktie much because it's so basic and you are not basic. Your face is gorgeous. I like the overall style.
Logan ~ Sunglasses
Eugen: This is nice. You're showing off those glasses well. For sunglasses I really think a picture needs more OOMPH to pull it off because it's covering part of your face, you need to kind of give more. I don't feel you're giving more. But you gave us theme so good job.
Andrew: i really think the sunglasses pop in this photo... a great showcase of your accessory. I don't like that its a plain studio shot though. It feels like this was made for a cheap catalogue. You do look good... but its not your best. Good luck!
Luke: I'm going to have to agree with Andrew that it almost looks like this is a catalogue shot. Your glasses are prominent in this photo, but there's not really much else to go on here. You're styled well-enough in this photo. It just feels more like a commercial shot than a fashion one. Perhaps you could use a visit from the Makeover Police
Rhys: Its hard when your a great model because I'm always expecting not good but the best from you and overall this is just great. I love the glasses, the outfit but something about your face throws me off. Don't get me wrong this is still a great photo.
Sean: The sunglasses did stood out in this photo but I think it compliment you well. I like the style, but the photo itself felt a little bit empty for me.
Marcus ~ Hoodie
Eugen: I'm not sure I think of hoods as an accessory since they're attached to clothing. Then I have the issue of your bottom area. While your face is handsome and those abs and arms are delish, I'm turned off by all the pubic hair I see.
Andrew: I have to agree with Eugen... I don't consider a hood really an accessory. The photo itself is a little too raunchy for my taste (which i know is hard for you, but thats just how i feel). Your face is nice and so are the abs... but its not working for me and neither is the hood. You may be in danger this week Marcus. Good Luck
Luke: I'm not quite sure what to make of this picture. We can see the hood well-enough and there is a modeling value to it, but it's not really an upscale modeling value (for obvious reasons). While I will personally never get tired of looking at well-defined abs, we do have to keep in mind that we're in a modeling competition, so it's not just going to be "Sexiest photo wins" (other than in Week 2). When it comes to a bit of your pubic hair showing, I have always held the firm belief that there is nothing wrong with tasteful nudity in shots, so it doesn't necessarily bother me. However, we do have to question whether it's tasteful in this instance or not.
Rhys: I actually like this photo. Yeah its sexual but still i'm looking at your face, i'm not going to your crotch like the others. Your facial expression is by far the best i've seen from you and i'm loving it. Also the hood works for me in this photo, not sure if i'd count it as an accessory but still it works.
Sean: I love the upper side of this photo more. The hoodie looks good on you. I love your face/expression. Much better than last week but the bottom side really distract me. I don't think it's really necessary for this photo. Maybe if you crop the photo until the belly side, it would be much better
Max ~ Coat
Andrew: I love pea coats! Another "looking away" photo though... thats 4 shoots now and you have yet to look at us!! What's with that? lol You look great in the photo and the coat is represented well. I don't know if it should've been B&W... but it works. It's also a tad boring of a shot. Not your best Max... Good luck!!
Eugen: I also love the old pea coats. Nice mature look imo. I agree about you always looking away but also, as I told Jay, I'd really like to see more expression from you. Your modeling factor though is top notch. You've always got that going every round. Just try to give us more face next time.
Luke: Hey, I also love old pea coats, too, as well. This photo being in black and white is probably helping you. I feel that coupled with your posing adds a bit of drama to this shot. Without either of those two aspects, this would have been a really dull studio shot. It's not your best work in the competition, but it's still a solid showing.
Rhys: Like i told Logan I'm always expecting not good but the best from you and i dont think this week is the best in my opinion. The past few have been the best but this is sort of bland and i think it may be your facial expression. To me it's sort of boring and it makes me bored to look at the pic. The coat does work but your face... i'm sorry.
Sean: I love the attitude from your expression. The coat is great. I agree with Andrew about the B&W. I think this photo would stand out more in color. Beautiful face but I expected more from you.
Robert ~ Hat
Andrew: You look very slimming here RDJ.. the hat really works as an accessory. I'm drawn to it and its represented well here... too bad you don't look good in it. That hat does not suit you at all unfortunately. I like the jacket and the background is kinda cool... but i don't like your face. You are in such bright clothes with a bright background and you look angry. So not a fan of the face or hat... but its not terrible. Just work more on facial expressions. Good Luck!
Eugen: Andrew said it all best. There's a photo out there with you wearing a hat, and wearing glasses, I wish you would have chosen that and said glasses instead. Even hat, miles better than this photo. I love you, so don't get me wrong here. But we need more from you.
Luke: There may be a slimming effect going on in this photo, but I still don't think it's the most flattering of pictures. The angle of your neck looks uncomfortable and you just don't look very engaged to me. It doesn't feel like a photo where you're portraying annoyance or any other emotion. It feels like a photo where you're annoyed to even be there.
Rhys: Yeah i'm going to agree with them, you've been sliding by... we are rooting for you and we'd love to see more. Take risks. But i love the hat, the face not so much and the outfit is great.
Sean: The style is good. I like it so much. My problem with you this week is how matured you were in this photo. I really want to see you as a model but I just can't. No matter what I think the photo is good enough.

Max ~ Coat
