Hello Final 6!!!
Welcome to your Ninth Judging session. This week you need to submit a fantasy photo. Let's see the photos this week
Rhys: I actually enjoy this photo. I love being able to look at a photo and be able to tell a story with it and this photo tells a story. With your description i can totally see the fantasy.
Andrew: I like the photo but i'm not feeling the fantasy vibe too much... its there and from the description I can definitely see what you are going for, but I just dont feel it. Looks like you just dropped into an episode of LOST. It does tell a story and I can make somewhat of a connection to theme so its not too bad... the modelling aspect is great though.. love the clothing and the posture. Good Luck!
Eugen: At first I was trying to find fantasy, with the mist (I've been there dude, it's hard) but then I read your blurb and you helped sell it for me. You look good and I know you tried your best. Good luck.
Luke: Your description definitely helps to sell this photo when it comes to theme incorporation. Now I can totally picture you in a Journey to the Center of the Earth type of setting. While I won't say the theme is strong in your picture (since it really needed to be sold), it is present. The way you're dressed also helps to sell the theme cause it looks like you were dropped in the scenario rather than being prepared for it. I like the way you're styled and I like the darkness you possess in the photo.
Sean: I like your explanation. But the setting failed to convince me that this is supposed to be a fantasy. I think you should played more with the lighting. I think the correct lighting will help this photo a lot.
Rhys: This is very creative. I like it.The shadowing at the top is blocking your eye which i dont like much but at the same time love cus it's very mysterious.
Andrew: The photo definitely feels outdated to me. Feels like the set and effects are very cheap looking and old. I definitely get the "Star Wars" fantasy vibe so there is that obvious connection. Unfortunately, there is just something about this photo that isn't working for me. The pose is very awkward, as is the facial expression. It's not terrible, and the theme is there, but it could've been better. Good Luck!
Eugen: The only thing I agree with Andrew on is your face. That's it, the rest is good. The pose, the setting the light saber, you did a good job.
Luke: Well, the theme is obvious with this shot, but it lacks a certain appeal needed in photos for this game. I've been developing a theory that shots from iconic movies, such as this, tend to not fair as well in the modeling competitions. I guess everyone's familiarity with the movie causes the shot to lose some of its "originality" (I've seen many people get ranked low and go out using Tron photos). Still, this shot fits the theme given this week and there is some modeling going on in the picture, even if it doesn't feel very modelesque.
Sean: This is awkward. I don't know about this. I can see the fantasy. Well obvious no one in the real world would want to want that hideous outfit. I'm a little bit upset because this photo just striped away the model quality in you.
Rhys: Where has this been all season! You've yet again amazed me this week. It seems like a very futuristic. I'm glad you stuck with this one because i like this one better. Like i said to daniel i like photos that tell stories and this does... also the modeling aspect is great. I love the mystery of your face.
Andrew: It's a very artistic approach to the theme.. I know how hard it can be to connect photos to a theme your model has obviously not posed in. But I think you chose the best picture you could. The lighting does give it that ominous vibe... and since we can barely see the car behind you, it could very well be in fact a futuristic car. I love the modelling aspect to the photo and the clothing choices are top notch for the theme... sleek and shiny. It's not the best theme related photo, but its really good model wise. Good Luck!
Eugen: I like this a lot and I didn't even see or notice the car at first. I read headlights and was like HUH? So I looked again lol While the shadows might make things a bit too dark, it's a lovely way to be right now. You are rocking this photo graph!
Luke: I looked at your rough drafts and you definitely made the right decision. From just an overall visual appeal stance, this is fantastic. I love how dark you look in the shot and you're almost and antihero in a sci-fi movie here. The shot does need to help in fitting with the theme this week, but you helped sell that part with your description and you can even get there on your own if need be.
Sean: I don't like the way you chinned down here. Don't ever hide your gorgeous neck. But I really like this. There's something mystery about this photo. I get the fantasy vibe here.
Rhys: I really like it... it's not my fav one but its in my top. The reason why i like it: It totally fits the theme... why i dont: It looks too fake for me and once again no smile... but overall it's a great photo and like i've told a few other models i love photos that tell a story and this does!
Andrew: WOW! Ok, theme is definitely there, that's for sure! Very cool effects and very interesting clothing choices. It's obvious you had a lot of choices for this shoot and you definitely picked a photo that was really fantasy looking. You do feel a bit far away from us and i'm not a fan of the pout... and like Rhys it does feel a little too fake, even for a fantasy shot... I mean obviously nothing in this photo is really there... so I'm not too big on that.. I want you to make me believe you are actually there! Its a good photo for the theme, but modelling wise and production wise, it's not all there for me.
Eugen: Funny because Rhys and I usually don't agree on much in critiques but this round he's basically saying everything I feel. I agree, the theme is there, it's fantastic fantasy wise. The setting the props everything. But I agree it looks too fake. I actually feel like it looks like a painting. But you yourself, I think you look very handsome.
Luke: This is the Fantasy round. I don't care if a setting looks fake, because it's Fantasy. I love the way you're styled here. You match the setting without fading into it. The pose is great, and this overall just feels like a very artistic shot to me, so I love it. Great work.
Sean: Yeah you nailed it Jay. Amazing, gorgeous and fantastic. I'm glad that you're back from your trip to the bottom 2 last week. I bet that wasn't a good experience at all cause you came back so strong. Good job!!!
Rhys: I think it's original because last time you were water based... this time it is lightning based. I'm digging the fact you are holding a lightning bolt... i also like the fact that this tells a story. If i had to pick one think i didnt like i'd pick your hair... its just looks like you need a haircut
Andrew: Definitely getting fantasy vibes from this shot. The angle is a little odd for me, but I like that it shows the lightning in the sky and you holding the bolt. It does feel very similar to your other shoot even if they are different settings, but I still think its a good shot. Like Jay, it does feel a tad too fake, and I would've liked to see more of an actual set.. not everything computer animated. But the pose is good.. very strong and powerful. Good luck!
Eugen: I like this. And though it's fake like Jay's, I'm not getting a painting vibe with yours. I think because your setting looks real while the lighting bolt just feels like a CGI affect. I like the angle and the pose. I think this is good.
Luke: Sometimes you have to take a calculated risk and go with a previous shoot and risk taking a few points off for that if it's still your best shot. And this is a nice shot, too. I'm liking your posing and we're getting a different angle from you that we haven't really seen this competition, so while it's from the same shoot as a previous shot, we are getting some variety from it in that capacity.
Sean: Love this Logan. It's definitely fantasy and you still look good in this photo. I think you manage to stay n character and other models better watch out for that lightning.
Rhys: I think the photo would have been great without the part you looking at the camera. I like the other you and think it would have been amazing if it just was that one
Andrew: Like Jamie, its a very artistic approach to the fantasy theme. While it's not outright "fantasy", it does give off the feeling that its not your average setting.. and the fact that there are two of you gives off an interesting hallucination effect. I like the lighting and the fact that you took a risk for the shoot... I know how hard it is to find "fantasy" photos if your model doesn't have any. A description may have helped you for this shot... Good Luck!
Eugen: My problem here, is, like Rhys, take away the face staring at us, it doesn't work. BUT then, that's my favourite part of the whole picture. Your face is divine and I'm loving you looking at me. Take that away and well, I actually like the other part too lol That gives me more a feeling of fantasy really. The lighting helps you a bit. It's like Andrew said, it's an artistic approach like Jamie's and that's good.
Luke: If you had included a description in this photo, I think it would have really helped sell the shot, cause I'm personally not getting a fantasy vibe from this shot. To me, it actually looks like one of those tacky photos you can get of yourself where you strike a pose for the middle shot and them go for a headshot that they add into the same photo. I wish I could remember what type of shot that was called so I could find examples on Google, but it's a very commercial shot that I feel is pretty tacky, too. What saves this photo is how you're modeling in it. The center shot of you is fantastic and the headshot gives us a nice view of your beautiful eyes.
Sean: I actually really like this. It's weird and it reminds me of a dream. It's very artistic. Your photo this week is the only one that made debated but in a good way. I just want to study your photo all day long.
