Hello Models!!!
This week you need to submit a photo for Hair Gel Advertisement. Let's start the judging for this week.
Rhys: This is great. I think you beast from me so far! I love your facial expression and the hair is great. If i were to pick one think i didnt like i'd say your mouth.
Sean: I think your hair is great but I'm not sure with the angle especially the way it was cropped. It looks unbalance. I think the photo is very commercial and your hair is sexy.
Andrew: I like the hair... but the pout is just a complete turn off for me. I don't feel any sex appeal from it. It does demonstrate great hair though.... and its still a Studio shot.... Good Luck!
Luke: Like Andrew, I'm not really feeling the pout. I lik the way your hair is styled and it's obvious that a product was used to achieve this look even though I don't feel that product was actually hair gel. The shot looks good, even if it's a bit off-center for a commercial shot, but it still works. There are a lot of things to like with this photo, but it's lacking slightly in a few areas, which keeps me from loving it. Still, a solid job.
Eugen: As Sean said, the angle and the cut off of the hair don't work for a hair gel theme. I do like this, your face is sexy. I really like your face a lot. It's not horrible but it's not the best.
Rhys: Love the hair, hate the mouth. Over all this photo is awesome. And the black and white make your eyes glisten which is great.
Sean: Yeah, your hair is great. I love the way you style it. Very proper for a hair gel advertisement. I don't like the black and white here because it didn't convince me to buy the product. The b&w kinda stripped away the commercial value in this photo.
Andrew: I love the hair and the facial expression. Fun, sexy, and just shows off your hair in the right amount of light. I could definitely see this as an advertisement for an expensive brand. Love the peacoat too... always looks super sexy on a man. Good job
Luke: I love the way your hair is styled and it looks like hair gel could have been the specific product used to achieve this look. While I would have preferred this shot to be in color (I'm imagining it that way and think it would be better), I'm not hating the black and white. It still works with the shot. I like the way you're styled and the shoot is plain enough that your hair is the focus, but not so plain as to be boring. Good work again this week.
Eugen: I love everything about this. The hair, the face, the smile. You have shown us variety and I like that. I think it would be better in colour but I can live with this because it's just fantastic!
Rhys: I love this picture! I think it's my favorite. I love the hair, the facial expression and your overall photo.
Sean: Same as I told Ewan before, I'm not a fan of b&w advertisement but your hair is so freaking gorgeous here. I don't like the scarf because it's hiding your neck but your hair is definitely the strongest element in your photo this week.
Andrew: OMG beautiful!!! This is sooo sexy and that hair! I want it!! Where did you get this gel??? haha j/k love the B&W. Colour may have been a better choice but I can still see it as an advertisement... doesn't take away from your beautiful hair at all!
Luke: While I would also have preferred color for this shot, if it was a choice between using this shot in black and white or having to go a different route, you made the right choice. I love this photo. Your hair looks fantastic in it, it has a great level of advertorial value, and you just flat out look good in it. Great job.
Eugen: Loving this!!! I really like almost all of it. The jacket is bulky but the rest is great!
Rhys: I like the slight smirk is great! Your hair is slightly more so messy then jelled. I think if this wasnt for Jel this may be a fabulous photo.
Sean: I still see a sad face. I'm not sure if your expression here will convince people to buy the product but your hair looks so good. I love the styling. Good photo but not really memorable for me.
Andrew: I don't really see the smirk... sort of looks like you're concentrating on something really hard or you're constipated haha The hair is fashionable but I don't really see it representing hair gel... its not particularly styled the way we want it to be. It just looks like it was blow dried and left a little messy. Its a nice shot, but not exactly what we were going for. Good luck!
Luke: Well, I think you knew that you were not going to do well with this shoot. You and I both know that Jay is not a commercial model; he's more of a high fashion model. You hair actually has a nice sheen to it and if this was for a general hair care product, this would be a nice shot. Unfortunately, I don't see much in the way of styling using any gel or other hair care products. I don't really see the smirk that you're talking about in this shot, but I've not been one of the judges who has been bothered by your face, so I'm not really worried about that.
Eugen: I don't see a smirk either but I love your face. It's sexy. The hair isn't great but it's good enough imo
Ellie: Very nerdy but still cool. Your face is different this week... Maybe because I can see your face hair a little bit. A little bit mature but still yummy. Good photo but not really stand out for me..
Andrew: I can definitely see the hair gel in there... may be a bit too much, but its there nonetheless. Its a good shot and I like the background/clothing. Not sure if I like the facial expression, squinting a bit too much there... but its a good photo. Good Luck!
Rhys: Yes i agree with Sean, the nerdy bit is true but it works and i agree with the too much hair gel. Your overall look is very professional and commercial and thats a great way to sell.
Luke: The product is definitely displayed and it's a very commercial shot. The photo is a little plain, but that works to your favor this round since we don't want a bunch of craziness to distract us from the purpose of the ad. I'm not worried about the amount of gel you've used in this shot as I doubt Darren Criss would have a problem with that amount of gel, either
Eugen: I definitely think of hair gel when I look at this. You look cute but also plain. Not bad though.
Sean: Why too many people decided to go with B&W this week. I like your hair but the most amazing part from this photo for me is your eye-contact. Very strong and I bet you can influence people to buy the product. I just don't like the B&W here. Too boring.
Andrew: Finally a shot where you are looking at us thats actually good! I love the hair and facial expression.. really draws my attention. I could see this on a billboard for a product for sure... maybe not hair gel, but something. I don't mind the B&W as it really adds character with the different shades from your scarf. Background is a little too white but I still like it.
Rhys: I'm going to say i disagree with Sean... i love B&W but for a shoot like this color would be best but honestly the point is to grab people's attention and buy their product and i feel like with your eyes you'd do that even in this B&W photo.
Luke: I appreciate that you listened to Andrew and gave us a forward-facing shot. I love the way your hair is styled and like, I would have preferred this shot to be in color, but it's still a good photo in black and white. I'm not a huge fan of your expression in this photo, as you look a bit unsure of yourself, and that's a little off-putting for me with this week's theme. However, your jawline is displayed fantastically in this shot. Overall, it's a good shot this week as I only had minors critiques.
Eugen: I'm confused because I'm not sure if the extension was granted because you didn't show up or if you asked for one, but it wasn't posted until five hours after the deadline. So I don't know if you're late or asked the wrong person for an extension. I like that you're facing forward, but like a few others, I hate that the cropping takes out some hair. It's a hair theme, never crop on the hair. You look sexy though.
Sean: Your new hair color is shocking. I kinda like your new hair. I think you took a big risk here and I like it. I'm not a fan of your style. Especially the color of your outfit is same as the color of the background. So a little bit boring for that part but overall, I like it.
Andrew: WOW. You look verrrrrry different. Honestly... I don't think you look good as a blonde. Its too much. It's like you are trying to pull off a teenage surfer look here. I do like that you took a risk and I can definitely see how it would represent hair gel, but its not the greatest. Good Luck!
Rhys: I like the risk and i like the hairstyle overall, but i'm going to agree with sean with the background and the outfit. Adds a bit of boring to it.
Luke: I appreciate that you took a risk with this photo, but like Andrew, I don't think blond hair suits you well. The use of the product is displayed well and you have a nice commercial pose. The hair color is just really distracting. You just don't look like yourself in this photo.
Eugen: I like the colour with your skin tone and I like the styling. I don't like the cropping at the top but I'm not hating this photo, so that's good.
